“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”
As I make my exit as President of The Great Falls Association of REALTORS®, this quote from Maya Angelou could not ring more true for me. This past year as President has been nothing short of fulfilling. Although I have held many positions in our association, I was unclear as a new President what my impact might be on the organization. I started my position in the hopes of not only making a difference, but also becoming a better community member. As the year progressed, many events and tasks were completed. It became clear to me that to be truly successful, all parts of the organization must work together in an intentional way toward a common goal. Every part is valuable and necessary to our association.
As I reflect on the past year, I believe that the spirit and practice of philanthropy improves the human condition. It is not merely the giving of financial resources, but can be giving of one’s expertise, passion, and talent. Our varying walks of life contribute to the uniqueness of how we view the world. It also affects how and why we choose to make an impact. A source of my motivation through the years has been to make the world a better place by contributing what I can. I feel that deep down we all want to make ourselves, our work and our communities better.
I will continue to help our association as I move forward. My service with GFAR has ignited my desire to do more, be more, and serve more. As I navigate this crazy world each day, I will try to instill in our fellow members the value of philanthropy. It is an ever-important socially responsible duty of giving what you can, how you can, when you can. I firmly believe that we all want to make the world a better place. I have used this as a source of motivation over the years.
Serving as the President of the Great Falls Association of REALTORS® has been one of the most valuable experiences I have had. Thank you GFAR for allowing me to fulfill my promise of leaving my mark! I also want to welcome our incoming President Josh Lind! I look forward to assisting you in anyway that I can.
