As I enter the last few months of my term as your GFAR president, I want to give a special shout out to our YPN Committee. Our Association has consistently struggled with having a stable YPN Committee with a clear purpose and individuals willing to commit their efforts to make it happen.
This year Marie Willson and Quenby Klippenes have served as our chairs and they have made it a priority to build YPN into something that we can continue to grow year after year. At their July Thursday morning meeting, members got up and spoke to us about leadership, community involvement and education. I can't wait to see everything they will achieve in the coming months.
The first in a series of networking events happened on July 18th at MacKenzie River Pizza. Opportunity Bank was incredibly gracious to serve as our sponsor, and Mike Banks did a fantastic job presenting to us at the morning meeting that day. New to this event was a bingo game in which you found fellow members who satisfied different squares on the board such as GRI Designation, Member Less Than a Year, or Volunteers in the Community. I was of course disappointed there was no Ginger with Blue Eyes square but I settled for GFAR Board Member on many. Each completed bingo card was then entered into a raffle drawing for a gift basket from the title companies. It was great to see so many of our members shaking hands and chatting with someone they might not have met before.
The future of this committee is limitless and it’s a great time to get involved at the ground level. The committee presents monthly at our Thursday Morning Meetings so I encourage you to come listen what they have to say, buy a 50/50 ticket and meet some new friends! The next YPN meeting is on August 15th at 9am and I hope to see you there.
